Welcome to B-Line Racing Kennels
B-Line Racing Kennels is the Dawson City, Yukon home of Musher Brian Wilmshurst, his wife Melissa Atkinson and their 35 sled dogs.
Brian has been racing since 2009, and has competed in many races in Alaska and the Yukon.
Brian first became interested in sled dog racing when he attended the start of the Yukon Quest in 2008 while driving bus for a tour group. A few months later, B-Line Kennels was born when Brian and Melissa acquired nine sled dogs from Ann & Peter Ledwidge who were getting out of the sport. In 2009, Brian ran his first race – the Percy Junior in Dawson City. He was hooked and decided he would run the Yukon Quest in 2013. In fact, he ran his first 1000-mile race in 2012 after finishing his qualifiers in 2010-11. To date, Brian has finished
many mid-distance races as well as six 1000-mile sled dog races (Yukon Quest x 5 + Iditarod), winning a few Vet Care and Sportsmanship awards along the way.
B-Line Kennels is proud to have many supporters from near and far. Brian is known in the sled dog racing community for his colourful parka, outgoing personality and happy dogs.
In 2019, B-Line Racing will compete in the Knik 200 and Copper Basin 300 with two teams, as well as the Yukon Quest and perhaps Dawson’s own Percy DeWolfe Memorial Mail Race.
